Abandoning Modern Day Life
& Running For The Hills

Over the last 10 years of my life, I have thought deeply about the possibility of humanity as we know it; crumbling to dust, leaving human kind having to fend for themselves. This, may I point out now, is nothing new. There are pockets of human tribes scattered across the globe who have never been affected by modern day society. Take for example the Aboriginals in mid Australia. They still live off the land and only take what they need when it is necessary.
Until now it has only been a deep desire of mine to return to my own ancient roots, but recently, all around the world, things are looking bleaker than ever. I have always theorised that nature will balance out the planet to maintain equilibrium. Somehow I feel this is happening right now. Across the globe we are experiencing tsunamis, hurricanes, heat waves, flooding and further dramatic changes in the weather patterns. Let me give you an example of how I theorise nature is balancing out the equilibrium right now.....
Right here in the United Kingdom we are grossly overpopulated, the only way we are sustaining the population is by intense farming of crops and meat produce, and of course, importing food. This year the seasons we always experience have switched.
For our crops to produce useful yields we require a wet spring to allow the germination and development of seedlings, followed by a long hot summer to supply the seedlings the energy to develop into harvestable crops.
However, this year we have had a blisteringly hot spring; April through to July, and now the rains are coming July to September, hence the ground is left dehydrated and the seedlings struggle to germinate therefore the crops are not developing. In essence our crops are failing and we will not have enough food to go around....
This is nature’s way of stabilising the balance.
Considering all of the above, alongside our own man made global recession, I foresee we can no longer sustain our artificial expansion of the planet.
So ... What if it all crumbles to dust?
It will become essential to understand basic survival skills. So many people in modern day life have no idea how to fend for themselves. If we need to move away from society then we need to have basic skills. (And these can also be not only fun to learn but also a massive money saver!)
• Water – Collecting, sanitising and storing.
• Fire! – The need to create, control and sustain.
• Shelter – Basic tools, construction, materials and maintenance.
• Food – Knowledge of plants, breeding, trapping, killing, preparing
and cooking.
From this point it will be up to each individual’s choices and learning as to what else they wish to achieve from a more simple and stable life.
Summary.
I would suggest that everyone has the ability to learn and is capable with their hands and minds, therefore they should try to learn about self-sufficiency. Not because the world is coming to an end but more so because there is a strong possibility that the modern world as we know it is going through some dramatic changes. Why wait? You could become more environmentally friendly, more confident with your life choices, and better off in life, health and wealth!
