Dick Proenneke travelled by foot, canoe and plane across the wilderness surrounding the Twin Lakes (Alaska) region for over 31 years. Once he wore a pedometer for exactly 1 year and it read over 3000 miles! That is an average of over 8 miles a day if he walked every day.
